The Locker Room

An exhibition of sports photography featuring work from Adam Docker, John Stanley, Joolze Dymond and Mark Aldridge.

Adam Docker

For Adam Docker, photography is not merely a visual medium; it is a profound exploration of humanity and culture. His images are a testament to his understanding of composition, storytelling, and emotion.

Adam's photographs come alive as they capture the essence of a moment in a way that transcends the boundaries of traditional still imagery. Through intentional movement, Adam breathes life into his compositions, elevating an otherwise static medium into one that evokes emotional responses and resonates with viewers on a visceral level.

Based in London, UK, Adam is a Photographer and Cinematographer whose work takes him all over the world. Travel and portraits are the themes for much of his photography.

With a distinguished career spanning 25 years as a cinematographer, Adam has seamlessly transitioned into the realm of fine art photography, earning accolades that include twice winning the British Journal of Photography's Portrait of Humanity award in 2021 and 2023, being recognised as a LensCulture Street Photography Finalist, and receiving The Independent Photographer People award.

Joolze Dymond

An internationally acclaimed photographer who has blended a lifelong passion for cycling with an innate talent for capturing moments through her lens – telling stories from the cycling world, one frame at a time.  Joolze will bring to life how through combining your own passion with your photography you can elevate the stories you convey, whatever the subject that drives you creatively.

Exploring how her personal love of cycling has driven her career, Joolze’s journey is not just about capturing moments; it’s about telling the accompanying stories of the cycling world, one frame at a time.  As one of the very few female sports photographers in the world of cycling, Joolze’s passion for the sport takes her to the farthest corners of the globe, capturing the essence of cycling in different cultures and landscapes.

From the highest mountain peaks to the lowest mud-filled ditches, she has navigated the diverse terrains of cycling with unwavering enthusiasm.  Whether perched on the back of a motorbike, braving windswept and exposed tarmac, or manoeuvring through the enchanting midge-infested forests along sweet single tracks, Joolze’s sense is always focused on capturing the soul of the sport. Her unique perspective goes beyond the race, reliving into the emotions both on and off the track. From the determined grit on a cyclist’s face to the camaraderie behind the scenes, every frame tells a vivid story.

John Stanley - Glossop resident John Stanley has been taking photos seriously since 2012, falling in love with photography after he realised its power to create and narrate new stories out of thin air. Working in sports journalism for around a decade, his favourite work sits somewhere between art, sport and documentary photography, at the points “where sport reflects life”. He has worked professionally in Olympic sports photography around the world for many years, most recently at the 2023 European Games in Krakow, Poland.
