OPEN SHUTTERS PROJECT | LISA MARIE GEE

22-25 FEB 2024 | OPEN 24HRS | GEORGE STREET WINDOWS | FREE

The Open Shutters Project (OSP) celebrates the achievements of people who have lived with mental health problems but have gone on to high achievements in their chosen field.

Photographs from the project will be displayed on the windows of participating premises on George Street, Glossop.

This project seeks not only to remove the stigma of mental illness, but to recognise that many people feel that their mental illness has actually been turned to their advantage, and led them down new career paths, or given them new or deeper insights.

OSP was originally exhibited at Gallery Oldham. It consists of 31 framed lifesize portraits – including my own self-portrait – plus accompanying video and written testimonies.

Lisa Marie Gee is driven by the connection to people as a portrait photographer, based in the North West.  She describes herself as a photography addict and can't get enough of the art form.  In 2015 she got really serious about taking portraits and knowing how powerful photographs, especially of the people that we love, she set up her successful business creating images that families can treasure forever.
